With a unique light during the seasons of White Spring when the region moves from almost total darkness in mid December to mid January to bright and long hours of daylight in April to the High Summer when there are no hours of darkness, just perpetual daylight... the region of Troms offers amazing photo opportunities. Yes the weather this far north can be volatile and changeable. Storms can occur within a few hours and last a few days in winter. In summer the weather can be surprisingly warm but again there can be changes which are usually short. Which ever direction you look the natural scenery of mountain and coast is breathtaking and when the sun shines the colours light up and the clarity is amazing.
There is an endless variety of material to work with.. fish drying out on wooden racks in the cold dry spring, glaciers, mountain stream and waterfalls. An abundance of colour as the flowers bloom and colour up the landscape in early summer. Sea Eagles and Golden Eagles soaring through blue skies, snow buntings that arrive early April and stay for a few weeks before heading further north to Svalbard to breed. A variety of wading birds including Oyster Catchers, Dunlins and Purple Sandpipers that feed and breed along these rich fjords. Northern Lights that can light up the night sky, particularly in February and March (providing you have a clear night and reasonable solar activity during the previous hours). Moose feeding on lowland saplings in deep snow in early spring or in flowery meadowland in early summer. Brightly coloured fishing boats resting on a calm clear sea with a snow topped mountain backdrop. The midnight sun blazing orange and red just above the horizon (around midnight) in June and July.
The options are endless and as numerous as your imagination will allow
